Evelyn Barclay, 91, of Borger, passed away Friday, March 18, 2011, at Childers Place in Amarillo.
Viewing will be at Brown Funeral, and Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Faith Christian Fellowship with the Pastor Tim Bernard officiating. Burial will be at Westlawn Cemetery.
Evelyn was born Sept. 15, 1919 in Forestburg, to Clarence and Dovie Reeves.
Evelyn and Jim Barclay married in 1937 and resided in the Phillips/Borger area. Shortly thereafter Evelyn began to work at Sutphens’ Bar-B-que where she continued working for almost 50 years. After leaving Sutphens’ Bar-B-que, Evelyn continued to waitress at Lorene’s Mexican Kitchen for another 17 years, and retired at the age of 83.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jim, parents, one brother, two sisters and one granddaughter.
Survivors include two sons and two daughters, Bob and Theda Barclay of Crowley, James and JoAnn Barclay of Borger, Brenda and Hayden Willhite of Vega, Linda and Charles Amrine of The Villages, FL ; a brother Oval Reeves of Amarillo, a sister Irene Phelan of Borger; seven grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
This family suggests memorials to Hospice of the Southwest of Amarillo.
