(Boys) Randall 3 Borger 1
Going into last night the Borger Bulldogs were hoping to leave Kimbrough Memorial Stadium with a win or a tie in order to take a one point or half a point lead over Dumas and Canyon for the fourth playoff spot in District 5-4A.
Unfortunately, the Randall Raiders ruined those plans by getting the 3-1 win over the Bulldogs to send their record to 3-7-1 in district play, 6-11-1 overall, while keeping their district point total at 3.5.
The Raiders struck early when Hutton Sharp scored the first goal in the game in the 10th minute to take a 0-1 lead.
The Bulldogs would quickly tie the game up in the 15th minute when Adrian Chavez put the ball in the net on a free kick.
The game would stay tied 1-1 until the 54th minute when Tre Newton gave the Raiders the go-ahead goal.
Randall improves to 19-9-4 overall and 8-2-2 in district with the team already securing the district’s number three spot for the post-season.
The good news for the Bulldogs is the team still finds themselves in a three- way tie for the final playoff spot with Dumas falling to Caprock 3-1 on Tuesday evening and Canyon losing to Palo Duro on Monday.
With the three-way tie, Borger and Dumas will wrap up the regular season on Friday in a contest that will have big playoff implications. With Canyon wrapping up district play on Saturday against a Pampa squad that has yet to win a district game, expect to see Borger and Dumas both coming out fighting hard for the win to earn the whole point in the district standings instead of the half point both teams would get from a tie.
If Borger and Dumas played to a tie on Friday night, a win by Canyon would give the Eagles the final district playoff spot outright.
Borger and Dumas will square off at Demon Stadium in Dumas starting at 8:00 p.m. on Friday night.

Tuesday evening the Borger Lady Bulldogs went into their contest with Randall looking to be the first team to give the Lady Raiders a loss in District 5-4A play.
Unfortunately the Lady Raiders came out ready to play physical and acting on the offensive end to put in two goals in the first 20 minutes on their way to a 3-0 win.
The win gives Randall a perfect 10-0-0 mark in district play, while the Lady Bulldogs end the regular season 9-10-0 overall and 6-4-0 in district play.
At this time, Lady Bulldog Head Coach Damion Simmons said he is not sure when or who their playoff opponent will be. However according to the UIL website, the Lady Bulldogs appear to have a first round bye in the 4A playoffs meaning their area round game will take place on March 28th or 29th against the district champions from District 7-4A which appears to be Abilene Wylie.
