Pet Pals

Thor is a one of kind great dane. My husband and I had just gone through the most terrible thing, losing a pet. June had gotten out while we were away one night. We searched all night long before finding her alive, she had been hit by a car. After six weeks of sleeping, eating and spending every minute at home in a very tiny enclosed space with her she finally got a clean bill of health. A month later we found out she had torn her diaphram when she got hit and her internal organs were pushed forward into her lung cavity. We had to put her down. It was the hardest thing I have ever had to do. Then about two months after that we were picking up dog food at Petco. There was a local organization there, D.A.W.G.S out of Dalhart doing adoptions. Well we just had to wander back where they were doing them to get our food. We came around the corner and wham there was this huge black dog just staring at us. Sitting right in front of where we needed to get. He looked so sad, and scared. I would be too with all those kids pocking and prodding at me. I stopped to pet him and read his info. "Thor, great dane, 3 yrs old." Then my husband looked down at him and Thor looked up at him and...well...it was love at first sight. So now Thor is the sole resident of our loveseat and a very happy member of our doggy family.
