A few events are coming up on the horizon for locals in Hutchinson County. A special meeting of the Hutchinson County Commissioners will be held this Thursday at 3:00 p.m. in Stinnett's Courthouse. The meeting will decide the immediate future of Borger's library, and whether or not it will be reopened for service. Locals who wish to attend and offer their opinions are encouraged to sign their names for public comment at the start of the meeting.

Tomorrow: Library to host magician at FUMC

Participants in Hutchinson County's summer reading program were likely looking forward to the magic show which was scheduled to be hosted at Borger's library tomorrow. However due to recent structure damage, the library was forced to make several changes to the program. Thankfully, Borger's First United Methodist Church (200 N McGee) has volunteered their spacious garden room to host the magic show. Parents and families are invited to arrive at 2:00 tomorrow (July 15) and enjoy the magical performance of Harlin Rhoades.

Today: Fritch museum showcasing local landscape art

The Lake Meredith Aquatic and Wildlife Museum in Fritch (101 N Robey Ave) will be concluding it's exhibition of landscape art today, meaning this is the last opportunity for locals to stop by and see some of the breathtaking paintings and artistic works of local artist, Betty Rusk. For those interested, Rusk herself will be at the showcase untill noon today to meet visitors, chat, and answer questions.

Tonight: Important tips for protecting life and property

Borger's City Hall (600 N Main Street) will play host to a special presentation this evening on wildfire preparation from 7-9 p.m. While it might seem silly to worry about wildfire after recieving roughly 2 inches of rain in one night, officials urge citizens to remember that while plants are big and green today, that only means they'll be big and dry later this year.

Borger City Council meets tonight

Borger's City Council is scheduled to meet in regular session tonight at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall. As usual a range of items are listed on the agenda, but those familiar with the town's Youth Advisory Council can take note of planned action regarding the organization's leadership and expenses. Full details on the meeting's outcome and action taken will be featured in the Wednesday edition of the paper, but locals are still encouraged to attend, especially if they'd like to bring local matters to the attention of the council.
