Xcel Energy awards grant to Frank Phillips College

July 9, 2012

Pat Rendon, Xcel Energy, center, presented a $5,000 check from Xcel Energy to Frank Phillips College Dean of Career and Technology Jack Stanley, left, and Dr. Jud Hicks, President, right.

Frank Phillips College was recently awarded a $5,000 grant from Xcel Energy.
The grant was made possible through the Education focus area for Xcel Energy’s corporate giving, which is part of the company’s effort to support nonprofit agencies providing services in towns and cities served by Xcel Energy.
The college plans to use the funds from the grant for lab equipment to be used in the Instrumentation and Electrical Program. The new equipment will allow students to receive experiences and training in the lab in line with the expectations of business and industry employers.
Monique Lovato, Xcel Energy’s Director of Corporate Giving, said the success of the company is directly related to the health of the communities it supports.
“While Xcel Energy’s employees invest in our local communities with charitable contributions and volunteer time, these grants are another way Xcel Energy shows our commitment to improving the quality of life in the towns and cities we serve,” she said.
The I&E program serves all petrochemical, oil, gas, electrical and instrumentation-related industries.
