The West Texas High School Sports Department won $10,000 from Frito-Lay through the ‘Score for Your School’ Promotion.
They accepted the check from Frito-Lay North America during a special assembly yesterday on March 25 at 9am at the WTHS cafeteria The students won the promotion this fall by having the most votes for a Division 1A school in the state of Texas.
Frito-Lay launched the “Score for Your School” promotion allowing Texas high school sports fans to win up to a $10,000 donation for their sports programs. Schools collected one point for each Frito-Lay product a fan purchased, then registered on a web site.
Six schools across the state have won the top $10,000 prize. Through this promotion, Frito-Lay is giving away a total of $90,000 to schools across Texas.
Presenting the check to WT High was Frito-Lay’s district sales leader Robbie Ward of Amarillo, Alfonso Alanis-Cue, Associate Brand Manager of Dallas; and Matt Meadows, Zones Sales leader, also of Dallas, who made a speech congratulating the students on their accomplishment in being first place in this race.
He said, “You have the potential to get another $10,000 and also be doing the same program at the end of the fall, so if you think about that, you have the potential to get another ten thousand dollars now and even do that again this fall, so I look forward to being her on a regular basis, hopefully two more times this year and giving you guys these big checks.”
After the program they dismissed the students to class along with free bags of chips provided by Frito-Lay.
