On Monday evening, the West Texas High Comanches and the Dalhart Golden Wolves squared off in non-district action in Dalhart, with the Wolves pulling out a 15-14 win.
The Comanches took the early lead by scoring six runs in the first two innings. But West Texas would not keep the lead for long, as the Wolves racked up nine runs in the bottom of the second inning to take a 6-9 lead.
The Comanches rallied to take a 13-12 lead by scoring seven runs in the third and fourth innings. The Comanches scored an additional run in the fifth inning, but the Wolves responded by scoring three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning leading to the 14-15 final score.
Leading the Comanches at the plate were Tyler Hoff going 4/5 with a home run, Chase Elliott hitting a triple, and Ty Lay hitting a double along with three RBIs.
Elliott would receive the loss on the mound by pitching the final four innings, giving up six runs on four hits while striking out five batters.
The Comanches are now 4-7 for the 2012 season and will next play their District 6-1A opener on Saturday at Follett beginning at 1:00 p.m.
