40 years ago today, Elvis Presley died at the age of 42. Fans will mark the sad anniversary in many different ways. A Candlelight Vigil was held Tuesday evening at his home in Graceland. His Memphis, TN home remains a must-stop for fans to this day.

Presley is regarded as one of the most significant cultural icons of the 20th century. Born in Tupelo, Mississippi, his music career began in 1954. His acting debut in 1958 was in the film Love Me Tender. He's one of the best-selling solo artists in the history of recorded music. He won three Grammys, received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award at the age of 36 and was inducted into multiple music halls of fame.
