Wal-Mart gives back to Children’s Miracle Network

May 17, 2012

Employees from the Borger Wal-Mart presented a check to the Children’s Miracle Network at the CMN Kickoff Luncheon in late April. The store is off and running raising funds for CMN in 2012.

The local Wal-Mart is doing its part to help the Children’s Miracle Network.
On Friday, April 20, employees from the Borger Wal-Mart attended the CMN Kickoff Luncheon, held at Baptist/St. Anthony’s Hospital in Amarillo. At that time, the employees presented CMN with a check for $23,000.
In 2010, the employees raised $22,000 for CMN, and saw that total go up by $1,000 in 2011. Beth Burns of the Borger Wal-Mart said the store is part of Division 1, which includes stores in Amarillo, Pampa, and Dumas. Over the past year, the store closest to the Borger Wal-Mart in fundraising totals was the Wal-Mart on Georgia Street in Amarillo, which raised $15,000 for CMN.
Burns said raising the money that the store did would not have been possible without the help of the community behind it.
This year the store has set a goal of raising $25,000 in funds for CMN, and a stretch goal of $30,000. To help make this happen, it has a fundraiser coming up Saturday.
The store is preparing for its first annual Wal-Mart Children’s Miracle Network annual car show, set for May 19 at the Hutchinson County Aluminum Dome in Borger.
Entry fees are $20 in advance and $25 the day of the event. Set-up time will be from 7-9 a.m., and the show will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
On the registration form, entrants need to put their name, address, phone number, e-mail, the make and model of their automobile, the year of the automobile, and which class it falls in. The classes include car, muscle car, truck, motorcycle, and special interest.
Forms and fees need to be returned to Wal-Mart, Attn: CMN, 1404 West Wilson, Borger, TX 79007.
For further information on the car show, call Bart, Beth, Mitzi, or Gary at 274-7257.
So far, with in-store events, and the store’s disc golf tournament and softball tournament, the store has raised $10,500 for CMN.
