Virginia Cook Smith

BORGER & Formerly of Clarendon - Virginia Cook Smith, 88, died Thursday, July 12, 2012, in Amarillo, TX.
Services were at 10 a.m. Monday, July 16, 2012, in Robertson Funeral Directors Saints Roost Chapel in Clarendon with Rev. Rick Nichols, Pastor of Central Baptist Church in Borger and Rev. John Denton officiating.
Interment was in Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon. Arrangements were under the direction of Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon.
Virginia Idell Smith was born March 28, 1924 in Donley County to Clark Leak and Ella Moon Cook. 
She was a graduate of Lelia Lake Schools. She married Charles “Dub” Smith on April 24, 1943 in Lelia Lake.  She worked as a nurses aide, and was raised working in the grocery business.  Virginia loved reading books and especially her Bible every night.  She was a member of Central Baptist Church in Borger, where she resided the past 10 years.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Ella Jean Smith; her daughter, Cynthia “Cindi” Smith, in 2007; and 3 sisters.
Survivors include her husband of 69 years, Charles “Dub” Smith, of Borger; son, Jerry Smith & wife Sandra, of Silverton; daughter, Cheryl Pickard & husband Jeff, of Borger; 4 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be sent to BSA Hospice, PO Box 950, Amarillo, TX 79105.
