The Boomtown Community Theatre is preparing for its upcoming production, scheduled to launch this Thursday.
The theatre will present “Bell, Book, and Candle,” Nov. 12-14 at its facilities at 407 North Main Street.
According to Ben Ooley of the theatre, the play will launch BCT’s 27th season.

“This delightful comedy by John Van Druten tells the story of how Gillian Holroyd, a young witch, fell in love and lost her powers,” he said.
He said the action passes throughout her apartment in three acts, with the first scene starting out on Christmas Eve. As the action begins, tenant Shepherd Henderson talks to Gillian, complaining about her Aunt Queenie being caught twice in his apartment uninvited.
Gillian, the landlady, was traveling around in Mexico tracking down the recently published phenomenon “Magic In Mexico” by author Sidney Redlitch.
“Now as usual in comedies which are romantically inclined, characters begin to fall in love,” Ooley said. “Only for Gillian this poses quite a conundrum, for a witch cannot cry, blush, or fall in love without losing her powers.”
He said with the help of her zany Aunt Queenie and meddlesome sister Nicky, a visit from Mr. Henderon and a surprise meeting of Author Redlitch, Gillian’s life will never be the same.
“Be entertained this holiday season and watch the play that inspired the lighthearted television series “Bewitched” and which is in production to be a major motion picture remake in 2010,” Ooley said.
There is a charge for dinner tickets. For reservations, call (806) 273-3121.
