FYI, (for your information) the $9,000 you mentioned in the letter to the editor Sunday, April 27, was a total amount approved by the council to be spent.
They haven’t spent a dime from the tourism money yet. So the Pro Bowlers DID NOT take one penny from the City of Borger. The money they took with them was an entry fee each one paid to participate in the Tournament. There were over 70 pro’s that entered and 32 of them cashed. The Jacksons (20’s) and the Franklins (100’s) you mentioned were spent in our fair city by the Pro’s and their families. You also mentioned the several articles you read about the tournament and then complained because information was a “gutter ball.” So which is it? Did you or did you not know about the tournament? Everyone knows the obvious answer to that question. Furthermore, had you attended the tournament you would have know the score of all the Pro’s. This is not a secret. I along with several members of the Borger USBC Association were in attendance. It was a wonderful tournament and it was managed very professionally. Every Pro whom I talked to said they were treated great and they would for sure return if we put on another event. I am very proud of what the tournament has done for the city. If you would participate in events as much as you criticized you wouldn’t have time to be a sore head. Chuck Litterell — Borger President- Borger USBC Association |
