Vera Doughty

Vera Doughty, 85, of Stinnett, passed away Saturday, March 26, 2011, in Amarillo.
Vera Fay (Chase) Doughty was born in Bovina on May 24, 1925 to Edgar and Marie Chase. She married Oscar Doughty 66 years ago on Nov. 24, 1944, in Carlsbad, N.M. She was a housewife and a member of Fairlanes Baptist Church, where Vera was proud to be a charter member. Vera was involved in the WMU, Prayer Chain, and taught Sunday school classes through the years at several churches.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include husband Oscar Doughty of the home; two sons, Oscar Doughty Jr. and wife Jan of Calera, Okla. and Ralph Doughty and wife Teresa of Fritch; two daughters, Polly Womack and husband Clovis of Austin, Caline Spikes and husband Ron of Oklahoma City, Okla., eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, four brothers, George Chase of Hope, N.M., Mack Chase and Bill Chase, both of Artesia, N.M.; and Jim Chase of Albuquerque, N.M., three sisters, Margaret Montgomery of Sacramento, N.M., Shirley Blancet of Lovington, N.M. and Nona Brewer of Artesia, N.M.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at First Baptist Church in Stinnett with Pastor Paul Burwash of Fairlanes Baptist Church, officiating and burial to follow at Stinnett Cemetery.
Family visitation will be at Brown’s Funeral Home in Borger (806-273-7555) on Monday, March 28, 2011 from 6-8 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Ken Doughty, Keith Doughty, Ronnie Doughten, Jim Richards, Nathan Sargent and Tommy Batson.
