UPDATE: Borger tennis competes at Regionals

Three Borger tennis players reached the quarterfinals Wednesday in the Region I-3A Tennis Championships at the McLeod Tennis Center at Texas Tech University in Lubbock.

-Micah Wilson beat Price Carpenter, of Burnet, 5-7, 6-2, 6-3 in the first round of boys singles, but he then lost to Kie Jones, of Big Spring, 6-3, 6-4.

-In mixed doubles, the Borger team of Aaron Madden and Lauryn Ammerman beat their first-round opponents 6-0, 6-1 but lost in the quarterfinals to Max Herber and Maggie Kennon, of Vernon, 6-3, 6-1. Madden and Ammerman are just freshmen.

-The girls doubles team of Candace Fonseca and Vivi Salomon were narrowly defeated in the first round.
