Two killed in Highway 207 wreck

September 24, 2012

A fatal wreck occurred Monday morning, leaving two men dead and another injured.
According to Department of Public Safety Trooper Gabriel Medrano, the wreck was nine miles north of Panhandle on Texas Highway 207.
Shortly before 6 a.m., Marijo Sistov, 25, of Amarillo, was driving north in a 2007 Ford F-150 and Dale Alan Milner, 61, of Borger, was driving a 2003 Toyota Tacoma going south, according to officials. The F-150 crossed over the center stripe, hitting the Tacoma head-on.
Both drivers were pronounced dead at the wreck scene shortly before 8 a.m. Monday.
Carson County Deputy James C. Blackburn also was injured while responding to the scene of the wreck, according to Loren Brand, Chief Deputy of the Carson County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputy Blackburn crashed into the back of two cars that had stopped to help the men involved in the wreck. Blackburn didn’t see the cars because they were on a hill. The deputy was taken to a local hospital with back injuries. “His current condition remains unknown,” said Brand.
Authorities temporarily closed the highway and redirected traffic while officials did accident reconstruction to investigate the scene of the wreck.
