Troopers release information on Canadian River Bridge crash

February 24, 2014

Ezequiel Perez

The Texas Department of Public Safety has released identity of a man killed in a bizarre auto accident over the weekend of February 15 and 16.

Ezequiel Perez, 22, was on his way to Stinnett from Borger in a 1999 Honda 4-door car when he drifted onto the guard rail at the Canadian River bridge outside of town, according to a report by Senior Trooper Chris Ray of the DPS.

The guard rail impact caused the car "to vault into the river bottom," coming to rest between the southbound and northbound sections of teh bridge, said the release.

When Perez's car hit the ground below, said Ray, it bounced and ejected Perez, who was not wearing a safety belt.

It is unclear how long Perez's vehicle remained undiscovered by authorities and the Borger News-Herald is in contact with the TxDOT and will post updates as details are released. The full story will be available in tomorrow's edition of the BNH.
