Stratford Elks defeat Sanford-Fritch 34-18

September 10, 2011

STRATFORD-On Friday evening, ehe Sanford-Fritch Eagles fought hard against the Straford Elks but couldn’t prevail 34-18. The absence of key players due to injuries, and multiply penalties would be key reasons for the loss.
In the first quarter, the Elks scored quick on a run by senior RB Alex Chavoya. No other points were scored in that quarter.
Second quarter had Sanford-Fritch answering with many exchanges by both Bryans (Chris & Terry) before Chris ran a short yardage touchdown. The extra point didn’t count.
Stratford would score two more times in the second quarter from the QB Tanner Wright to WR Edgar Guerrero combination. Sanford-Fritch answered with a fake punt by Valle on a fourth down. This gave Sanford-Fritch a new set of downs to set up a beautiful 50 yard pass by Chris Bryan to Terry Bryan. The halftime score would be Stratford 21 and Sanford-Fritch 12.
The second half would doom the Eagles due to penalties and turnovers. Stratford rolled down the field with penalty yards and Chavoya running and Guerrero catching. Two interceptions and a fumble would let the Elks score twice.
Some great defensive plays by LB Caleb Manzella, OLB Brady Robbins and DE Aaron Swain would spark the Eagles up. In the fourth quarter, the offense was all about Valle, as he scored the final TD to end the game 34-18. Next week is Homecoming for the Eagles when Canadian comes to town ready for action.
