LEVELLAND-On Thursday evening, the Frank Phillips College Plainsmen and Lady Plainsmen lost their WJCAC basketball games against South Plains College in Levelland.

South Plains College has gone through the 2011-12 season undefeated and showed why they are considered the top JUCO team in the country on Thursday by jumping out to a 63-17 lead over the Plainsmen by halftime.
The Plainsmen looked better in the second half, but the Texans where able to hang on for the big win and improve their record to 25-0.
Greg Nelson scored 14 to lead the Plainsmen, followed by Kris Harris with 11.
The Plainsmen drop to 10-16 overall, 2-8 in WJCAC play. The Plainsmen return to the court on Monday evening hosting NMMI at 7:30 p.m.
(Women) South Plains College 68 Frank Phillips College 46
The first half between South Plains and Frank Phillips was a fairly tight contest with South Plains holding just a ten point lead at halftime, 21-31.
But the Lady Plainsmen would only manage to shoot 26% from the floor on the night, helping South Plains pull away in the second half for the 68-46 win.
Despite a rough start in non-conference play, South Plains has rebounded well by currently holding a 5-4 conference record and going to 8-17 overall. The Lady Plainsmen drop to 0-9 on conference play and are 6-19 overall.
The Lady Plainsmen play Trinidad State on Saturday afternoon and will return to the court Monday evening hosting Clarendon College at 5:30 p.m.
