Shirley Ann Willingham

August 19, 2013

Shirley Ann Willingham, long time Odessa resident, passed away August 16, 2013, after fighting a long term illness. Shirley was born February 1, 1935 as Shirley Ann Simpson to Opie Reed Simpson and Mary Anna West of Borger, Texas.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, James Leon Willingham of Odessa, three daughters, Mitzi Ann Wood of Odessa, Cathryn Lynn Marshall of Odessa, and Elizabeth Woolridge of Fort Worth. She was preceded in death by her daughter Donna Kay Willingham. She is also survived by two sisters, Opal Claudine Terry of Amarillo, Texas, and Patricia Joyce Patillo of Missouri City, Texas. Shirley was the loving and doting grandmother of nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Shirley was a long time member of First Baptist Church in Odessa and a born-again Christian. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi and was also a swimming instructor for the Red Cross.
Throughout her life Shirley was a devoted wife and mother, but also a deeply devoted friend to many. She was an avid bridge player who made countless friends whom she held close to her heart and life.
Shirley was greatly devoted to her love of children, so therefore in lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in her name to Cal Farly’s Boy’s Ranch.
