According to United States Attorney Sarah R. SaldaÃ±a, Northern District of Texas Judge Mary Lou Robinson ordered sentencing dates for the Fernandez family and others involved in the case.
The sentencing for Thomas Joseph Salazar, 23, is set for March 2, 2012, or as soon thereafter as possible. Salazar pleaded guilty to one count of cocaine possession with intent to distribute. He faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison. The 23-year-old is charged with knowingly and intentionally possessing with the intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine and/or five kilograms or more of cocaine in the Randal, Potter, and Hutchinson County areas.
For Jose Luis Fernandez, Francisco Villanueva Fernandez, and David Escobar, sentencing dates are set for March 15, 2012, or as soon thereafter as possible. Jose Fernandez is charged with one count of conspiracy to commit a drug offense, three counts of possession with intent to distribute cocaine and prohibition of illegal gambling business. Francisco Fernandez is also charged with one count of conspiracy to commit a drug offense. David Escobar pleaded guilty to one count of operating an illegal gambling business.
The sentencing date for Aaron Fernandez, 26, is set for Feb. 29, 2012. He pleaded guilty in December to one count of possession with intent to distribute 110 pounds or more of marijuana, according to records of the court. He will face a maximum of 20 years behind bars.
Amy Fernandezâ€™s sentencing has been moved to Feb. 28, 2012. She pleaded guilty on Nov. 21, 2011, to illegally structuring monetary transactions to avoid federal reporting requirements.
