Seal coating in Isom Addition to start July 12

July 10, 2012

The seal coating of streets in the Isom Addition is set to begin on July 12.
Doug Tipton, who is the Street Superintendent for the City of Borger, said this program is used to extend the life of street pavement.
“We try to seal each street every five years, but we fell way behind in the past and we are trying to catch up,” he said.
In order to make the program work as successfully as it can, Tipton said it is important that people keep their vehicles off the street during the application of the asphalt and rock.
The City of Borger is placing flyers in the affected areas prior to the beginning of the seal coating.
“We have had to tow vehicles before, and it is costly,” Tipton said.
“We hope for no towing charges to have to be sent to homeowners this year.”
Prices came in higher than anticipated, so the Street Department has said streets west of Cedar likely will be cut from this year’s project.
