Sanford-Fritch Eagles host Spearman Lynx in regular season finale

October 28, 2011

Tomorrow night the Sanford-Fritch Eagles will host the Spearman Lynx in their regular season finale in Fritch.
The game will be a key battle in determining playoff seeding as the two teams enter the game battling for second place with both suffering just one district loss from the hands of Abernathy.
Last Friday evening, Abernathy gave the Eagles their first district loss over the past two seasons by scoring 13 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to get the 28-13 win.
Eagles’ junior Colton Valle had a strong game rushing for 113 yards and two touchdowns. However, Abernathy’s quarterback Austin Lewis had a big night rushing for 144 yards with two touchdowns and throwing for two touchdowns as well.
Thanks to a bye last week, ironically Spearman comes into Friday night looking to rebound from their 21-14 overtime loss to Abernathy two weeks ago.
The loss was the first of the season for the Lynx, who have continued to improve each year under fourth year head coach Steve Rodman.
The Lynx rely on playing good defense and a solid ground game led by senior quarterback Jace Lang-Swan and junior running back Justin Rindlisbacher.
The Eagles have a bye next week, which is why tomorrow ends the regular season even though most of the Texas Panhandle still has a week to go in the season.
Regardless if they win or lose, the Eagles will secure one of the district’s three playoff berths. But there is no question the Eagles want to get a good win over Spearman to claim the district’s number two seed and go into the playoffs with some momentum.
Kickoff between Spearman and Sanford-Fritch is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in Fritch.
