Sanford-Fritch Eagles get first district win

February 1, 2012

The Sanford-Fritch Eagles jumped off to take the early lead and never gave it up. A lot of heart showed big for these boys, Tuesday night. This was a big win for the Eagles.
Senior Hunter Cunningham came back to lineup after a thumb injury. This addition seemed to boost the Eagles to a much needed win. First quarter had the slump shooting Lynx falling behind the Eagles 8-3 at quarter.
In the second quarter, sophomore Monty Field had big three pointer to spark the crowd and Eagles. Great put-backs by Junior Trey Henry left the Eagles still ahead at half 21-11.
Third quarter was a blood brawl, literally, after blow to eye of junior Colton Valle. Sanford-Fritch kept their composure after losing him and continued on leading, even though Spearman had 8-4 run.
Nothing but intense, physical basketball in the fourth. Seniors Chris Bryan and Skyler Jewett, along with sophomore Ryan Blakely held their own against the rough Spearman squad.
Eagles got their first district win 47-38.
Big game Friday in Bushland, second place spot holder in District 1-2A.
Sanford-Fritch scoring leaders: Ryan Blakely 9, Trey Henry 8
Sanford-Fritch improves to 1-5 in District 1-2A play and 3-18 overall.
