The Sanford-Fritch Eagles walked out onto Eagle Field ready to play on Friday night in their District 1-2A Div II showdown against the Dimmitt Bobcats.
It didn’t take long for the Eagles to put numbers on the board. In the first quarter senior Tate Murray caught a six yd touchdown pass from quarterback Chris Bryan with 8:23 on the clock.
The biggest movement by Dimmitt on offense all night was short lived thanks to a deflected pass tipped up then intercepted by T Bryan. After the interception, the Eagles scores on a 15 yard touchdown run by junior running back Colton Valle. PAT was no good- 13-0.
The tough Eagle defense forced the Bobcats a four and out on downs. Valle quickly scored a seven yard rushing touchdown. The two point conversion pass from C.Bryan to Darrell Hanson was good giving Sanford-Fritch a 21-0 lead.
Second quarter started quite similar to first quarter with total domination. Bobcats stilled struggle offensively and were forced to punt. With 8:56 left in the half, a 37 yard pass from C. Bryan to Valle give the Eagles a great lead, 28-0.
In the third quarter, the Eagles had last week’s play of the week repeat with a screen pass from C. Bryan to Valle, who then connected for a 45 yard touchdown to T. Bryan, 35-0.
Defensive plays all night by Caleb Manzella, Tyler Blankinship, Ryan Blakely, Tate Murray, and Daniel Segedy kept the Bobcats scoreless. Before the quarter ended, Tate Murray got his second touchdown on the night by rushing in from six yards to make it 42-0.
Quickly in the beginning of fourth quarter, Cody Brom ran in from six yards to score a touchdown to put Sanford-Fritch up 49-0. The Eagles pulled most key players for others the opportunity to play to finish out the game. Big stat nights for many players.
Sanford-Fritch will travel south next week to play Abernathy, one tough match, who are also undefeated in district.
