RFL team fund raising in full swing

May 2, 2012

Teams involved in this year’s Relay For Life are in the midst of fund raising efforts.
Maggie Pena’s team is currently selling tickets for a drawing involving an original oil painting by Nester Hernandez entitled “Walk by Faith.” Hernandez is a former Marine Sergeant in the United States Marine Corp that graciously donated the painting for the Relay For Life efforts. The drawing for the painting will be held this Saturday.
Tickets are $2 each or three for $5 and are available from Maggie Pena by calling 806-898-0885. The raffle is part of Pena’s team effort to raise funds for Relay For Life of Hutchinson County and all proceeds from the raffle will benefit the American Cancer Society via RFL.
The RFL team from Golden Plains Community Hospital is also in the midst of fund raising efforts.
The team is now taking orders for geraniums in a decorated clay pot.
Just in time for Mother’s Day, the plants are only $10. Orders will be taken through Wednesday, May 9, and delivery is scheduled for Friday, May 11.
Contact Jamie Loven in the GPCH business office at 467-5711 to get your potted geranium. All proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society via RFL.
The 2012 Relay For Life of Hutchinson County will be held from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Friday, June 8 and Saturday, June 9, at Huber Park in Borger. Anyone interested in forming or joining a team for the event is urged to contact team chair Denise Webb at 806-336-6475 or via email at
