Preview of Hutchinson County Football Action

November 4, 2011

Going for another outright district title
Tonight, the Borger Bulldogs will try to win their second outright District 1-3A title in a row and/or a share of the title for the third year in row against the Perryton Rangers.
A win over Perryton will give Borger the district title outright and extend their district winning game streak to six games, while a loss would lead to the Bulldogs sharing the district title with Perryton and potentially Dalhart.
The Rangers have been an up and down team this season, but have impressive wins over Canadian, Stratford and Pampa.
Last week the Rangers took advantage of three Harvester turnovers and a good night by running back Kade Keeth to get the 44-31 win.
A win by Dalhart will place Borger in the 3A Division I bracket where they will face Lubbock Cooper next week.
According to Andrew Glover of The Pampa News, a Pampa win by 14 points clinches the Harvesters a playoff spot and would put Borger in the 3A Division II bracket where they would take on Shallowater next week in the Bi-District playoff round.
The kickoff between Perryton and Borger is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Bulldog Stadium.

Comanches vs Elks: Winner
makes the playoffs, loser stays home
Tonight, the West Texas High Comanches travel to take on the Stratford Elks in what should be the game of the week in the Texas Panhandle.
The stakes in the game are pretty simple. Both teams hold identical 1-2 records in District 1-1A Division 1, so whoever wins the regular season finale between the two will clinch the final playoff spot in the district.
When looking at the match up on paper, the two teams appear to have many of the same strengths, which should make for an interesting close game.
Both teams understand the continuing or end of their season hinges on what will take place in Stratford on Friday night.
Kickoff between the Comanches and Elks is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. tonight in Stratford.
