Post office to hold Passport Day March 10

March 9, 2012

The Borger Post Office is hosting a special passport event on Saturday, March 10, 2012 from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm to provide passport information to U.S. citizens and to accept passport applications.
The Borger Post Office is joining the Department of State in celebrating Passport Day in the USA 2012, a national passport acceptance and outreach event.
U.S. citizens must present a valid passport book when entering or re-entering the United States by air. U.S. citizens entering the United States from Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean and Bermuda at land borders and sea ports of entry must present a passport book, passport card, or other travel documents approved by the U.S. government.
The Borger Post Office will offer standard processing (4-6 weeks) or expedited processing (2-3 weeks), for an additional $60.
To ensure your passport application process goes smoothly, you will need the following:
Application for U.S. Passport (DS 11). This form can be obtained at the Borger Post office or online at travel.state.gov
Proof of US citizenship (original certified birth certificate or naturalization certificate)
Proof of identity (state issued driver’s license or ID card)
Passport photos (the Borger Post Office offers this service for $15)
Children under the age of 16 must have both parents/guardians present at the time of application.
Additional information on cost and how to apply for a U.S. passport is available at travel.state.gov. U.S. citizens may also obtain passport information by phone, in English and Spanish, by calling the National Passport Information Center toll-free at 1-877-487-2778 or by calling the Borger Post Office 273-3761.
