Pool wins state track title

May 16, 2011

On Friday, senior J’Cee Pool became the first Borger High School Lady Bulldog to ever win a championship at the state track and field meet, a feat longtime Borger Track Coach Jeep Webb confirmed shortly after Pool won the 3A Girls Discus with a throw of 140-00. On her thoughts of Pool winning the state title, Borger Head Girls Track Coach Leslie Young recalled, ”We knew going to Austin that J’cee could medal, she just had to compete and that’s exactly what she did. She didn’t go out and win it on her first throw, she didn’t take the lead until the first throw of the finals.  She stayed composed and worked to get it out there like she knew she could. She achieved her dream by getting to compete at state, she exceeded that dream by winning it.”
Pool followed her performance in the discus by taking second place in the 3A Girls Shot Put with a throw of 41-07.50. On the milestone in the Lady Bulldog track program, Young said, J’cee has been such a huge part of our track program in so many ways and I’m so glad after all of her hard work and dedication that she was able to finish her career in the way that she did. She has made a place in the history of our program and we’re so glad she’s a Lady Bulldog.”
