A plea has been entered in the Amy Fernandez case

On Monday, Nov. 21, 2011, it was confirmed by sources involved with the case that Amy Fernandez pleaded guilty for one account of evading the reporting requirements and the regulations issued thereunder, structure, attempt to structure, and attempted to assist in structuring currency transactions with one or more domestic financial institutions. She has been accused of purchasing 39 cashier's checks with United States currency in amounts of $3,000 or less pertaining to the structuring.
The maximum statutory penalty for the structuring offense is five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
The three Fernandez brothers and Thomas Salazar's arraignment will be held Tuesday morning at 9:30 a.m. The Borger News Herald will be on scene at the arraignment and will have more information for Wednesday's paper.
