Plainsmen split final two with Western Texas on Saturday

April 30, 2012

On Saturday, the Frank Phillips College Plainsmen (15-28, 9-15) split their final two games with the Western Texas College Westerners (21-26, 13-11) 1-2 and 7-6.
In game one, the Plainsmen limited the Westerners to two runs, but the Plainsmen couldn’t get much going at the plate resulting in the 2-1 loss.
In game two, the Westerners put together a late rally to take a one run lead into the bottom of the ninth inning.
But the Plainsmen were able to respond by scoring two runs to get the win and avoid the series sweep by the Westerners.
With Western Texas winning the series, the Plainsmen are mathmatically out of being able to claim the final regional tournament berth in the WJCAC.
The Plainsmen wrap up the 2012 season this weekend hosting Howard College beginning on Friday with a doubleheader beginning at noon.
