On Monday evening, the Frank Phillips College Plainsmen used a 9-0 run to pull away for the 92-81 overtime win over Western Texas College in WJCAC action.
After trailing by two at halftime, the Plainsmen spent the bulk of the second half on the verge of taking the lead and going on a run. But the Plainsmen could not take advantage of their opportunities until the 6:05 mark when Ronald Scott found Greg Nelson open for three pointer to tie the game at 68-68.
For the next six minutes, the two teams went back and forth before going into overtime.

The Plainsmen started to fight back and were able to tie the game at 26-26 on a tip-in by Kris Harris.
A basket by Demetris Lafontant gave the Plainsmen a 35-32 lead. But ten points by Rogers, in the final three minutes of the first half, gave Western Texas a 41-43 lead at halftime.
Twice in the second half the Westerners were able to build a six point lead.
But the Plainsmen did a good job fighting to stay in the game, leading to an exciting final ten minutes of the second half.
