Pilot walks away from Tuesday evening crash

On Tuesday evening, a Bellanca aircraft made a crash landing in an open field in the Borger area, one mile south of Highway 136.
According to DPS reports on Tuesday at 5:15 p.m., a Bellanca aircraft, piloted by James Randall Dyson, 62, of Borger, was flying on a low gas tank for maintenance reasons and was heading back to the Hutchinson County Airport in Borger.
While in flight, Dyson tried to switch gas tanks but due to equipment failure was unable to do so causing Dyson to bring the aircraft down.
The aircraft came down between FM 1551 and High 136 in an open field between Golden Plains Community Hospital and the Agrium refinery.
According to the DPS, no fatalities or injuries were reported from the crash.
