Phillips retires as museum director

June 27, 2012

Wes Phillips has retired as Hutchinson County Museum Director.
The announcement was made during the County Commissioners’ meeting Monday morning. Phillips decided to start teaching at Frank Phillips College. He took the fall and summer to spend time with family before he started his teaching career.
Phillips started out as a member on the Historical Commission.
In August 2002 he began working as registrar for the Hutchinson County Museum. Shortly after Ed Benz retired, Phillips was appointed museum director and retired June 13, 2012. Wes Phillips is also known for his insect program where he earned the title as the bug man.
In other business, the commissioners approved the termination of the Swartwood Consulting Engineer contract on the Borger Library project, the amended resolution of the Hutchinson County Local Data Advisory board, took no action on continuing or receding the burn ban, and approved the disposal of obsolete office equipment.
