Perryton tops Borger in five games
On Tuesday evening, the Borger Lady Bulldogs ended the first round of District 1-3A play with a loss to the Perryton Rangerettes in five games 19-25, 25-14, 28-26, 25-27, 6-15.Perryton snapped a winning streak the Lady Bulldogs enjoyed over the Rangerettes which stretched over the past six years. Game one of the match was a close back and forth affair until Perryton closed with 5-2 run to pull away for the win,The Lady Bulldogs responded in game two by using a 12-2 run to come away with a dominating 25-14 win. The Lady Bulldogs had a great overall team effort in the game, with four players collecting at least two kills and five players having at least two digs defensively.Game three started well for the Lady Bulldogs as they were able to build a 18-12 lead. However, Perryton climbed back to tie the score at 23-23. The two teams went back and forth until Emma Wood and Kristen Mills came away with back-to-back kills to give Borger the 28-26 win to take a two games to one lead.Despite the loss, the run at the end of game three seemed to of sparked the Rangerettes as they started game four by building a 10-17 lead.The Lady Bulldogs fought hard to eventually tie the game at 24-24. But the breaks went Perryton’s way giving the Rangerettes the 25-27 win in game four.To start game five, the Lady Bulldogs looked like a team that had used all their energy trying to get the comeback win in game four. Perryton was able to take advantage of a tired Lady Bulldog team by building a 1-11 lead in game five and never looking back for the win.Borger goes to 0-3 in district play but the team will enjoy having their next two district matches at home.
