Back and forth games are fun to watch, unless your team ends up on the losing end. On Tuesday evening in Perryton, the Borger Lady Bulldogs and Perryton Rangerettes went back and forth in nearly every inning where Perryton would take the lead, only to have Borger to fight back to tie the score and visa versa. In the top of the seventh inning, the Lady Bulldogs scored two runs to break a 7-7 tie and appear to be on the verge of netting their second District 1-3A win. But the back and forth battle resulted in Perryton getting the 10-9 win by scoring three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning.
In the first and second innings, the Lady Bulldogs put runners in base only to come away empty handed.
Perryton scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the second inning. But the Lady Bulldogs responded by tying the game at 1-1 on a RBI single by Desiree Jiminez.
In the bottom of the third inning, Perryton took a 1-4 lead with the help of a two-run home run over the right field fence. However, the Lady Bulldogs were able to answer back with RBI hits by Kyla Baker, Alex Lopez, and Tootie Karins to tie the game at 4-4.
Down 4-6, the Lady Bulldogs were able to bounce back and take their first lead in the game in the sixth inning by turning four base hits into three runs for a 7-6 lead.
Perryton tied the game in the bottom of the sixth inning, but a two RBI double by Taylor Hickman allowed Borger to have a two run cushion and needing just three outs to get the win.
Unfortunately those three outs never game, as hit a double to left field followed by two more base hits led to the Rangerettes leaving their home field with the comeback win,
The win improves the Rangerettes to 3-3 in district play, while the Lady Bulldogs drop to 1-5.
With only three games left in district play, the Lady Bulldogs trail Dalhart by one game for the final district playoff berth. The Lady Bulldogs will next travel to Pampa on Saturday to take on the Lady Harvesters at noon.
