PAMPA-On Tuesday evening, the Borger Lady Bulldogs came out strong taking game one in their match against the #14 Pampa Lady Harvesters.
But an upset was not in the cards for the Lady Bulldogs as the Lady Harvesters got the breaks down the stretch to get the win in four games 25-21,17-25, 19-25, 15-25 to stay undefeated in District 1-3A play.
The Lady Bulldogs drop to 1-6 in district play and have two matches left to try secure one of the three district’s playoff spots.
Good serving by Maggie McMurray, Emma Wood and Bethany Harris and solid net play allowed the Lady Bulldogs to jump out to a 13-7 lead in game one.
The Lady Harvesters fought their way back to tie the score at 16-16, but the Lady Bulldogs found a way to answer back, including scoring the final four points of the match, to get the win in game one.
In game two, the Lady Harvesters came out playing with more intensity but the Lady Bulldogs responded with solid defense leading the teams to play to a 14-15 score. Unfortunately, the Lady Harvesters finished game two with a 10-3 run to pull away for the win.
The Lady Bulldogs continued to play hard in order to put themselves in a position to take games three and four. However, the Lady Harvesters showed why they have been able to go through district play without a loss pulling away in the final two games to get the win and regular season sweep over the Lady Bulldogs in 2011.
Now the Lady Bulldogs will turn their focus to try to get a big win over Dalhart on the road on Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Bulldogs have two district matches left and are in a battle with Perryton for the district’s third playoff spot.
After traveling to Dalhart on Saturday, the Lady Bulldogs will wrap up the regular season next Tuesday, October 25th hosting the Perryton Rangerettes.
