It’s now official. CVS is coming to Borger sooner than we think.
On Tuesday, August 23, 2011, the building that housed the once existing Subway and Borger’s longtime bowling alley was torn down to make room for CVS on the corner of third and Cedar Street.
Jamie Wallace, the District Manager for CVS, stated they are planning to be finished by the end of January of next year.
In March, the Planning and Zoning Commission approved a request from CVS Pharmacy for a re- plat. The re-plat was for lots 4-11, Block 24, Unit 4, Thompson Addition, containing 1.303 acres, to be known as Lot 4, Block 24, Unit 4, Thompson Addition, 230 N. Cedar Street.
Representing CVS at the P&Z session was Talon Wilson who said the new pharmacy will be a bit bigger than the ones in Dumas and Pampa. He said CVS has its own time frame of when it wants to start construction.
The Borger City Council approved the re-plat of the land in April.
In May, the council also approved agreement with CVS Caremark Corporation for access, a retaining wall, and a construction easement.
The company requested these items along the east and south sides of the property.
The plans call for access to the proposed drive-up window through the existing public alleyway on the south side of the property.
Subway closed its stores on May 13, 2011 and is relocating to the corner of Opal and West Wilson, directly in front of the Holiday Inn Express.
