Oteka Bernard Watts
(April 3, 1932 - December 21, 2013)
Services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, December
27, 2013 in the First Baptist Church in Memphis
with Rev. Daniel Downey and Rev. Johnnie Snider,
Private family interment will be at Fairview Cemetery
in Memphis.
Viewing and visitation for Mrs. Watts will be on
Thursday, December 26, 2013 from 5:00-7:00 pm and
then Friday starting at 9:00 am at the funeral home.
Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Memphis.
Mrs. Watts was born April 3, 1932 in Memphis, Texas to Glen Sam and Annie May Gardenhire
Bernard. She had been a beautician, waitress, and worked at several other business
in the Memphis area. She was a member of the Eastern Star and was past Queen Mother of
the Red Hatters Club. Oteka loved gardening and tending to her yard, and especially loved
spending time with her grandkids. She was a lifetime resident of Memphis and was a member
of the Memphis First Baptist Church. The family would like to thank the staff of Caprock
Rehab-Nursing Home in Borger for the great care and kindness that they gave to Oteka.
Oteka was preceded in death by her parents; and by the father of her children, Clifford Lee
“Corky” Maddox.
Oteka is survived by 2 daughters, Glenda Grant and husband Ted of Brunswick, Maine,
Cindy Campbell and husband Jay of Borger; a brother, Albert Ray Bernard and wife Darelene
of Ft. Worth; a sister, Johnnie Yarbrough of Cabot, Arkansas; a host of nieces and cousins and
a nephew that were special to her; 8 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great
The family requests that memorials be to the American Cancer society or to the Fairview
Cemetery Association in Memphis.
