Officials respond to Hwy 136 wreck

January 26, 2012

Area emergency officials responded to a wreck Thursday morning on Highway 136.
A husband and wife, who were not identified, rolled into a ravine off the highway. Gabriel Medrano of the Texas Department of Public Safety said the husband had complained of stomach pains.
He said that a witness stated the southbound vehicle curved off the road to the right, causing it to go through a barbed wire fence and strike an electrical pole on the driver's side. This caused the vehicle to roll several times, landing into a ravine.
Trained personnel were on the scene to get the husband stabilized until he and his wife were transported to Northwest Texas Hospital by EMS. The husband and wife were both in serious condition with several injuries. Medrano said the couple was from Gruver.
Potter County Sheriff's Department, DPS, and Fire Department were on the scene. Medrano stated Fritch emergency officials also responded but wasn't sure which department.
