Odilla Catherine “Odie” Wasinger

GARDEN CITY, KS - Odilla Catherine “Odie” Wasinger, 87, of Garden City, Kan. died Saturday, July 14, 2012, at the Kansas Heart Hospital in Wichita, Kan. She was born March 13, 1925, in Holcomb, Kan., the daughter of Peter and Elizabeth (Drelling) Knoll.
Odilla grew up as a child in Holcomb, Kan. and graduated from Holcomb High School. On Jan. 20, 1947, she married Richard Joseph Wasinger in Garden City, Kan. Odilla has lived in Garden City since. She worked for JcPenney’s for a few years and worked for the City of Garden City Utility Department for 23 years. She enjoyed dancing, music, bowling, playing cards, and walking.
Survivors include her companion Bob Ellis of Garden City, two daughters, Diane Wasinger and companion Dea Campbell of Chillicothe, Mo. and Joanne Roth and companion Mike Muirhead of Garden City, Kan.; a granddaughter Jennifer and husband Cade Carr of Fritch, Texas; and three great-grandchildren, Brayden Carr, Bryleigh Carr, and Jaylee Carr.
Odilla is preceded in death by her husband Richard who died on Oct. 13, 1980. She is also preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Charlotte Lloyd; and two brothers, Edwin Knoll and Albert Knoll.
Vigil service and rosary will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Garden City, Kan. Funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 19, 2012, at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Garden City, Kan. with Fr. Rene Labrador as Celebrant.
Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City, Kan. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, all at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City, Kan.
