June 11, 2013

A plane that was enroute to Borger crashed in Roberts County early Tuesday morning, killing the pilot.
The plane, which was a Light Sport Alpha Trainer, was carrying pilot Donald Sharp of Greenfield, Ind., and Zachary Jenkins of Indianapolis, Ind. The plane crashed around 2 a.m. at Mesa Vista Ranch, which is approximately 27 miles north of Pampa in Roberts County.
The plane was enroute from Indiana to Borger. Jenkins made the comment that they thought they both had the fuel to make it. An emergency landing was attempted over very rough terrain, according to Christopher Ray of the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Jenkins was airlifted to Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo. Sharp was taken to Lubbock for an autopsy.
