NEWS: FPC signs three softball recruits

January 23, 2013

Lesa Murphy is pictured with her parents, Joedy and Celia Murphy, little brother Joshua, and Coach Lucas Grider.

Lesa “McKenzie” Murphy signed her letter of intent on Monday on the FPC campus.
She will graduate from Pearland High School in Pearland, TX this spring. She is a second baseman and an outfielder who plays for her high school and a travel team, the Texas Evolution.
“I believe that 'Murph' will bring a good presence to the team. She is a left handed hitter who handles the bat well and should add some speed and defensive depth to our team next year,” says head coach, Lucas Grider.
Two other players have committed, but cannot make it to the campus for their signings.
Tori Amaya from Cedar Creek, TX will graduate from Cedar Creek High School in the spring. She is a pitcher/outfielder for her high school team and a travel team, the Central Texas Clash. Grider says of Amaya, “Tori will come in and add pitching depth to the roster. She will be able to hit at the top of the lineup as a slapper and put pressure on the defense with her speed.”
Kendra Sinclair of Fort Worth has also committed to FPC. She will graduate from Haltom High School this year. She is also a pitcher/outfielder for her travel softball team, the Texas Force Gold. “Kendra will come in, and with Tori, add to our pitching depth. She moves the ball well and is very accurate hitting her spots. Offensively, she is a contact hitter who can spray the ball around the field,” comments Grider.
He continues, “We are very excited about getting these athletes to commit to us early in the signing period. We have a very solid foundation with our 2013 recruiting class.”
The Lady Plainsmen will open their spring softball season on February 2nd at Trinidad State Junior College. A preview of this year's squad will run next week.
Welcome to the FPC family, ladies!
