Merna Beene Morrison
Merna Beene Morrison, 80, of Borger TX, passed away, Saturday, January 28, 2012.Merna June Beene Morrison was born Sunday, June 28, 1931 in Hammon, Ok to William James Beene and Mildred (Payne) Beene. Merna graduated from Phillips High School. Later she married her high school sweetheart, Norman Morrison Sr. in Borger, TX on August 31, 1949. In 1963 Norman and Merna purchased the Budweiser Distributing Company in Borger, TX. After their only child was through school, Merna worked alongside her husband in the business. They enjoyed being known as the Budman and Budlady for many years. Merna was very active and involved in the community. She played in several different bridge clubs, played golf and was a member of Borger Country Club serving on the board of directors as well as supporting many local charities in the Borger area. Merna was a very loving and giving person and loved spending time with her friends and family. She loved traveling, whether it was with her family or friends.She is preceded in death by her husband Norman Dean Morrison Sr. on March 28, 1991; two sisters, Mary Beene Davis and Roberta Beene Ehly; and her parents.Survivors include one son, Norman Dean Morrison Jr. and wife Sherry of Amarillo, TX; one brother, Don Beene of Borger, TX; one grandson, Shawn Edward Morrison and wife Amy – Beth of Amarillo, TX; two great grandsons, Norman Dean Morrison III and Conrad Barnes Morrison both of Amarillo, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews. Burial will be at 10:30AM, Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at Westlawn Memorial Cemetery in Borger, TX with Memorial services to follow at 2:00PM at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Amarillo, TX, 1515 S. Georgia (right off I-40) with Rector Jo Roberts Mann officiating.Mrs. Morrison will lie in state at Brown Funeral Directors in Borger, TX on Monday, January 30, 2012 from 8:00AM to 8:00PM and Tuesday, January 31, 2012 from 8:00AM to 8:00PM.In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: St. Andrew’s Episcopal School Scholarship Fund, 1515 S.
