Mary Lou Grubbs

Mary Lou Grubbs was born in Kingfisher, OK on December 28, 1927 to Carless and Flora Turner. She passed away June 30, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband Neal Grubbs, her parents, sister Susan Turner and brothers Jimmy, Charles, Kenneth and Muriel Turner.
Her family moved from Oklahoma to Arizona where in 1944 she met and married the love of her life, Neal Grubbs. They married in Phoenix, Arizona and were married 63 years.
After WWII they lived for a time in Medford Or. In 1950 they moved to Borger, TX. Mary Lou worked for many years as bookkeeper for Unique Furniture. She and Neal returned to Oregon for 12 years living in Burns where they managed the Ponderosa Motel. In 1980 they came home to Borger where they owned and operated Mr. G’s Beauty Supply. She retired from Taylor’s Convenience Stores in 1991.
She enjoyed music, sewing, reading and painting. Her favorite hobby was quilting with the ladies of Bunavista Baptist Church. She and Neal together made quilts for each of their children as surprise Christmas gifts.
She was most proud of and is survived by her children Buddy Grubbs and wife Wanda of Borger and daughter Patricia Chase and husband Don of The Colony, TX; grandchildren: Leslie, Regina, Michelle, Karen and Kristi; great-grandchildren; Stephen, Christopher, Kirstee, Kali, Rickey, Tara, Stuart, Kassie and Butch and her most faithful companion Shadow.
The family wishes to thank the loving caregivers from Odyssey Healthcare and Girling Healthcare. Also special thanks for loving care and attention from Emily and Ronnie, Gene and David, Sue and Christine.
Memorial graveside services will be held at 10:30AM, Saturday, July 7, 2012 at Highland Park Cemetery in Borger, TX.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Odyssey Hospice, 6900 I-40 West, Suite 150, Amarillo, TX 79106.
Cremation was entrusted to Brown Funeral Directors.
