Marilyn Smith, 89, passed away June 27, 2012 in Yukon, Oklahoma. She was born on July 12, 1922 to Warren James Lewis and Margaret Nadine. After the death of her father, she was adopted by her step-father Hugh F. Sears. Marilyn graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1940. After high school, she attended Hills Business University to become a secretary. Marilyn was employed by Tinker Field Air Force Base where she worked for 3 years as supervisor of supplies. Marilyn married George A Smith June 2, 1945 and they were married for 67 years. George served in the Air Force at that time. They eventually settled in Borger, Texas until 1977. She was a stay at home mom and raised 4 children and was active in her church. George and Marilyn moved to Yukon, Oklahoma in 1983 and lived there for 29 years. Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband George, parents, and grandson David. She is survived by sons, Allen Smith and wife Gayla, Greg Smith and wife Diane, and Gary Smith; daughter, Sherilyn Dickerson and husband Ron; 20 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren. Donations may be made in her name to Oklahoma City Arthritis Foundation. Funeral ceremony will be Monday, July 2, 2012 at 2:00 PM in the Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow in Resthaven Memory Gardens.
