Margaret Roberta Smith ,97, passed away Saturday, November 2, 2013 in Wichita Falls, Texas.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at Floral Heights United Methodist Church with the Rev. Merwin Turner and Rev. David Turner officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Devotion at Crestview Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 in the evening on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home.
Margaret was born May 4, 1916 in Olney, Texas to John Madison Paschall Jr. and Maud E. (Clark) Paschall. She met and married John “Speck” Thurman Smith on June 12, 1934 in Breckinridge, Texas. They were married for 58 years. Margaret was a retired homemaker and was also a Worthy Matron of Borger #811 Order of Eastern Star 1948-1949. She was a member of Susannah Study Group, a longtime member of Floral Heights United Methodist Church and the Couples Class Sunday School and Circle of Prayer. Margaret was a devoted Christian, she was loved by everyone, was such a kind and gentle person to all who knew her. She lived at the Presbyterian Manor for 31 years. Margaret was vivacious and outgoing leaving everyone she knew with a smile. She loved playing card games, especially bridge. She was also an artist with oil paints and doing free-hand embroidery portraits on the sewing machine. Margaret had a very full filling life and was a wonderful mother and grandmother.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband John Thurman Smith and her son James Phillip Smith.
Margaret is survived by her daughter; Doris Lynn Davis, 3 grandsons; Robert Eddie Smith and wife Ann, Sean Crawford Smith and James Phillip Smith Jr., great-grandchildren; Karissa Smith, Jareck Smith and Zachary Smith, nephews; Bob and Bill Hendrickson and many family and other friends.
