August 1, 2011

On Thursday, July 28th, Borger resident Steven Guy Redwing, 56, pled guilty in the 84th Judicial District of Texas, to having sexual contact with a minor in Borger on April 15th, 2011.
In return for Redwing’s plea of guilty, District Attorney Mark W. Snider recommended Redwing to be sentenced to eighteen years in prison. District Judge John W. Lagrone sentenced Redwing in accordance with the plea bargain.
As part of the plea agreement, Redwing waived his right to have his case tried before a jury and his right to appeal his case.
The second degree felony offense has a penalty range from two to twenty years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and up to a $10,000 fine.
Redwing will serve a minimum of nine years in prison before he is eligible for parole and will be required to register as a sex offender upon his release from prison.
The Borger Police Department investigated the case.
