Lucille A. LaPointe

Peacefully on Monday, Jan. 24, 2011, Lucille A. LaPointe of International Falls passed away at the Falls Good Samaritan Center just short of her 92nd birthday.
Lucille was born in Holler, Minn., on Feb. 2, 1919, went to St. Thomas School and was proud to be one of the first graduating classes from the school.
She went on to business college to be a secretary. She worked at a few different positions in International Falls before she went to Phillips, Texas, where she was hired at the Phillips Petroleum Company.
She was a member of the Jane Phillips Sorority. She loved to travel to many of the conventions around the United States.
Lucille had a strong belief in her Catholic faith; prayer was an important part of her life.
Lucille volunteered for her church in Texas and the St. Thomas School in International Falls. She enjoyed reading to the students and helping out where she could.
She enjoyed gardening, walking and keeping in touch with relatives around the country.
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Adeline LaPointe; sister Florence Holmberg; and brother Oren LaPointe.
She is survived by her nieces, Sandra Wepruk and Mary Orstad; great-nieces, Kim LePine, Kristan DelZotto, Teresa Hampton, Suzanne Abendroth and Michelle Grieme and great-nephew David DelZotto, their families; cousins, Jamie and Kellie LaPage; and her best friend Louise Burns.
Visitation and recitation of the Holy Rosary for Lucille was at 9 a.m. Monday, Jan. 31, 2011, at St. Thomas Catholic Church.
The Funeral Mass took place at 10.
Interment was at St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery following the Mass.
Fr. Joe Sobolik officiated.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Thomas Church and School.
