Loyd Elmer Gooch, 86, of Borger, passed away, Thursday, May 16, 2012.
Loyd Elmer Gooch was born on April 12, 1926 in Logan County, Oklahoma to Corbett Roy Gooch and Minnie Rose (Schnaeburger) Gooch. Mr. Gooch worked for Phillips Petroleum Company as a welding supervisor. He was a member of Keeler Baptist church where he served as a deacon. Mr. Gooch was a WWII Veteran and also involved in the Korean conflict. Mr. Gooch was instrumental in building the ball park for the North Little League, where he coached the team. Loyd Gooch married Darlis Reynolds on May 5, 1942 in Enid, Oklahoma.
He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include wife Darlis, two sons Skip Gooch and wife Jackie of Roswell, NM, Danny Gooch and wife Becky of Amarillo, one Daughter Linda Chase of Borger, eight grandchildren Scott Say of Littlefield, Chipper Gooch of London, Brian Gooch of Jonesburg AR, Danny Gooch Jr. and Joseph Gooch, David Gooch all of Amarillo, Gary Verble of Orlando, FL, and Kevin Gooch of Roswell, NM, fifteen great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, May 19, 2012 at Keeler Baptist Church with Paul Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at Westlawn Cemetery in Borger, TX.
Mr. Gooch will lie in state at Brown Chapel Of The Fountains in Borger on Friday, May 18, 2012 from 8:00AM to 8:00PM.
Pallbearers will be Scott Say, Chipper Gooch, Brian Gooch, Danny Gooch Jr., Joseph Gooch, Gary Verble, David Gooch and Kevin Gooch.
