Longtime Borger Coach Hunt inducted into TABC Hall of Fame

This past Saturday, former longtime Borger High School Boys Basketball Head Coach Duane Hunt was honored as part of the 2012 class entering the Texas High School Basketball Hall of Fame.
The Hall of Fame banquet ceremony took place in San Antonio, during the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches (TABC) clinic.
Hunt spent 23 seasons coaching the Bulldogs where he had a 507-206 record, which included two state runner-up finishes in the late 1970’s. During his 26-year coaching career he took three teams to the state tournament and had a 548-236 overall record.
Hunt graduated from Oklahoma City University where he played for Coach Abe Lemons.
Hunt was one of the original organizers of Texas Association of Basketball Coaches (TABC) and was helpful in starting the Academic All-State teams and the state top 20 rankings.
From 1982-83, Hunt served as the president of the TABC.
In 1989, he retired from coaching to become director of missions for the Larry Jones International Ministries. He and his wife Deanna have traveled to 68 countries on six continents.
Hunt also has served as the Immediate Past President of the Fellowship of Baptist World Ministries.
Other inductees into the 2012 class include former Randall girls coach Jim Wilcoxson, former Canyon player/University of Texas Assistant Women’s Coach Lynn Davis Pool, Belton player Billy Wilbanks, UIL Contributor/Announcer the late Phil Ransopher; and A&M Consolidated Coach Sue Betts.
